Business Valuation Estimate
A rough valuation range for your service business — based on profit, industry, owner dependence, and operational maturity. Useful even if you're not selling.
How this estimate works
Service businesses are most commonly valued as a multiple of SDE (Seller's Discretionary Earnings) — profit plus what the owner pays themselves and runs through the business.
We start with an industry base range, then adjust for:
- Owner dependence: the more the business needs you personally, the lower the multiple.
- Operational documentation: a documented Playbook signals transferability — a major buyer concern.
- Recurring revenue: predictable income commands a premium over project-based revenue.
Important: this is a rough planning estimate. A real valuation depends on growth trajectory, customer concentration, contract terms, market conditions, working capital, and many factors this calculator can't see. Use it for orientation, not as a basis for an actual transaction.
Make your business worth more.
Owner-independent + documented + recurring revenue = a meaningfully higher multiple. We help you get there.
